Masterman Needs Volunteers with Security Clearances During School Year.

Due to ongoing school district funding crisis, Masterman School again needs parents/guardians/caregivers with current security clearances to help with tasks that in years past would have been filled by staff. Can you donate some time to Masterman and your student during the school day?  If you have your security clearances, please volunteer ASAP using our sign-up on VolunteerSpot, an online scheduling and reminder tool. Masterman will need volunteers throughout the 2014-2015 school year, especially during the opening week of school.

How to Volunteer? It’s very easy.

1. Click this link to go to the Volunter at Masterman School invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/RNeZ1u
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders.

Why volunteer?  The dozens of volunteers who helped out last school year and during the summer made a huge difference in the school’s operation and staff morale. “The parent volunteers have been amazing,” said Masterman Principal Jessica Brown about this summer’s volunteer help. “It is wonderful to receive such support.”

What needs to be done?  The volunteer tasks and times available at this school year are:

*Front Office - 1st Shift, 7:30 am - 8:30 am

*Monitor 5th & 6th Graders on Patio, 7:45 am - 8:15 am

Monitor 7-8th Graders in Auditorium, 7:45 am - 8:15 am

*Late Desk, 8:00 am - 9:00 am

*Front Office - 2nd Shift, 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Monitor High School Lunch / Roof Recess, 10:13 am - 11:04 am

Monitor 7th Grade Lunch / Roof Recess, 11:04 am - 11:55 am

Monitor 5th/6th Grade Lunch/ Roof Recess, 11:55 am - 12:46 pm

Monitor 8th Grade Lunch / Roof Recess, 12:46 pm - 1:37 pm

End of Day/Dismissal, 3:19 pm - 4:30 pm

(Principal Brown gave highest priority need to the tasks marked with a “*.”)

What security clearances should volunteers have?  According to Philadelphia School District policy, Masterman students’ parents and guardians who volunteer regularly at the school must obtain their security clearances—typically the Pennsylvania State Criminal History Record and a Child Abuse Report. It is possible to volunteer after you have applied for the clearances, even if you do not yet have the final reports.  See http://bit.ly/17C6tET for our FAQs about Security Clearances.

If you placed your security clearances on file at the school district during the 2013-2014 school year (at Masterman or at your student’s elementary school), and volunteered since last summer, you do not have to reapply for your security clearances – but make sure they are on file at Masterman by the first day you show up at the school to volunteer.

If you don't have clearances, go to this document for instructions about how to get them: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i17FhTmMHQrddmvEJ8KlogGgIzIw2w6z33KahEbARKQ/edit?usp=sharing
