School Council Nominations and Election Process

The J.R. Masterman School Council will be holding elections for 3 open positions on the Council. The Council, which is composed of parents, teachers and administrators, meets monthly to review and discuss school policy and budget matters. It provides a forum for important collaborative dialogue on issues of importance to the Masterman community. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Masterman community, are able and willing to commit to attendingmonthly 2-hour meetings that usually begin at 4:45 pm on a regularly scheduled basis and, occasionally, ad hoc meetings, please consider submitting your name for inclusion in the ballot. Positions are for a 2-year term, starting in September 2012. If you are interested, please submit a SHORT (no more than 100 words) statement to support your candidacy by Friday, May 25. Submit your statement to clairemccusker@earthlink.net (Claire is completing a 2-year term and is assisting with the elections.) If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail Claire for more information. Also, the other current Council members -- Sam Garst, Maurice Hampton, Jay Weiss Cohen, and Laura Richlin -- are also happy to discuss their experiences on the Council. Elections will be held May 29 through June 6. ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: EVEN IF YOU DON'T RUN FOR ELECTION, PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A BALLOT AFTER MEMORIAL DAY. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL FAMILIES VOTE!!
