The Library Renovation Project is Moving Ahead!

In this time of austere budget cuts, it is exciting to report that through the dedicated work of the Masterman Home and School Association, construction on a beautiful new library is well underway at  Masterman. With the funding raised through the 7th Annual Masterman auction and the conceptual architectural design provided by Metcalfe Architecture & Design through a Community Design Collaborative service grant, Masterman Home & School was able to secure a commitment from the Philadelphia School District to provide all of the labor and construction for the renovation!

Ms. Kearney and a group of committed volunteers packed up the library within a week to allow the construction process to begin.  The School District is working with the Home & School and CDA&I Architects and Interiors to get the bulk of the work completed by the end of June. Some additional work will be needed during the summer inorder to have our newly renovated library up and running for the start of the 2012-13 school year. That is where you can help

Although the auction committee raised its goal of $40,000, we are still in need of additional funds to complete the renovation as it was envisioned by the Masterman library task force, made up of students, teachers and parents. Please see the renderings of the conceptual design and the construction photos below to get an idea of what the library will look like when completed.

We are asking Masterman parents and friends to donate whatever they can to raise the additional funds that this project needs. We would like to have most of the donations received by June 30th.

We hope that you will  consider contributing to this very worthy cause.  Imagine the excitement that our children will feel when they come back to school in September to a new library worthy of their academic excellence!  We are so close to our goal and we know that we can get there with your help!
