The All-City High School Jazz Fest was Wednesday evening at Cherry Street Pier. Masterman's band played a program of varied genres to a cheering crowd. Soloists included Luca Vitiello, Yoel Figueroa and Tre Smith. The evening concluded with the All-City Jazz Band, made up of students from all of the schools and conducted by renowned trumpeter Terrell Stafford; Micah Neale and Luca Vitiello made us proud as members of this all-star ensemble. Students in the choirs, orchestras and bands have been working hard to prepare a beautiful program of music. We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting concert featuring musicians from 5th through 12th grade! Date: Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. Tickets: Tickets will be sold at the door for $6 each. This admission fee helps to cover the cost of sheet music, instrument repair, piano moves, etc. It is not necessary to purchase tickets in advance but those who wish to will be able to do so via schoolcash. Families who are unable to pay the $6 ticket fee should please contact Mrs. Neu at [email protected] and we will provide tickets for you. We lucky enough to hear from: The Masterman Jazz Combo Tre Smith, Alto Sax (8th grade) Eamon Hellyer, Trumpet (8th grade) Yoel Figueroa, Tenor Sax (9th grade) Quintin Harrison, Drums (9th grade) Luca Vitiello, Guitar and Bass (10th grade) The combo will be performing next for a special luncheon at the school district building on May 20th. And the full jazz band played at the All-City Jazz Fest at Cherry Street Pier on April 29. The Masterman Strings Alison Samuel, Violin (10th grade) Julia May, Violin (10th grade) Alison and Julia are a part of a larger group. a string quartet of which the violist and cellist were at NHD States during the auction. That quartet has also played at school district events. Huge thanks to these students and to our indefatigable Ms. Neu, who organized and assisted to make it all possible. We are happy to welcome William Wilkinson (Mr. Will) who will be substituting for Doctor Shapiro's music classes for the rest of the year. Mr. Will is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. He has 7 years of teaching experience in Chicago and Philadelphia in band, music technology, choir and general music. We are so excited to again be featured for The Wiz! Congratulations to the amazing Masterman middle school students on their performance at the All-City Middle School band festival on Tuesday night at the Kimmel Center. The jazz band, band and orchestra all did a fantastic job. We have an incredible 56 middle school participants in the orchestra, band and jazz band and Mrs. Neu will be conducting the band this year. No tickets are required. All are welcome to celebrate our magnificent middle school musicians. Come out and enjoy an evening at the Kimmel (for free) this Tuesday. The High School All-City Music Festival took place at the Kimmel Center on Tuesday evening. 30 Masterman High School students participated in All-City Band, Orchestra and Choir. As winner of the annual All-City Concerto Competition, Rishab Das performed masterfully. A great night was had by all! This Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 PM is the annual All-City High School Festival at the Kimmel Center. No tickets are required. Feel free to attend and support our band, orchestra and choir students who will be participating and Rishab Das, Masterman senior, who will be performing as the concerto soloist at the concert. We will have a substitute choir director working with our choirs before school for the rest of the school year. His name is Mr Sobol and he is the music teacher at Meredith school. We are so lucky that he is able to support our choir program and wish the very best to Dr. Shapiro in his retirement. Because Mr Sobol has a conflicting concert at his school, we will be moving the middle school spring concert to May 21st. We will have a combined middle and high school concert that evening. Please mark your calendars! Our combined (middle and high school) concert will be on: May 21st at 6:00 P.M. It's show week! Please come out and support the over 250 students who have worked so hard to prepare this amazing show!

Our cast, orchestra, and stage crew have poured their hearts into this production, and they are ready to deliver the performance of their lives. With nearly 250 students involved, even small contributions make a huge difference, keeping everyone energized, organized, and supported behind the scenes. If you can grab a slot or donate snacks, you’re helping turn weeks of hard work into a smooth, magical show for every single kid.
