Students had a local author, Alyssa Reynoso-Morris, share her inspirational story to Spanish  classes. At the end of her presentation she donated all her books to the school library!

On behalf of the Language Department  we want to show our gratitude to the HSA  for sponsoring this great opportunity for students.

Get Involved in SAC!

4/19/2026

Exciting news, Masterman families:

SAC elections are opened this week, and we want YOU to be a part of it!

The School Advisory Committee plays a vital role in our Masterman community, and this year, four 2-year terms are up for election. Serving on the SAC is a meaningful way to engage directly with school leadership, help shape school policy and priorities, represent the voices of students and families, and make a lasting impact on the Masterman experience for years to come.

Any parent who will have a student attending Masterman next year is eligible to apply. We invite all interested community members to submit an application to be on the ballot. Applications are being collected by Masterman’s FACE Representative, Rasheeda Sloan ([email protected]), who will work with Masterman’s SAC Organizer to create the ballot.

Apply here to have your name added to the ballot:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfL9SdEzrjeyCU6bWx5VXPqhwSTtVIm1AN7KSe-YNxd5qGKHA/viewform

Here are the key dates to keep in mind
  • April 30 — Deadline to submit your application to be on the ballot
  • May 7 — Ballot shared with the Masterman community
  • May 21 — Deadline for voting
  • June 3 — June SAC Meeting to welcome newly elected members

With April 30 just around the corner, now is the time to step up and get involved. We look forward to welcoming new voices to the SAC!

Shape Our Future

2/22/2026

Masterman's Future is Taking Shape — Your Voice Matters

By now, many of you have heard about the School District of Philadelphia's proposal to close a number of schools across the city. For Masterman, this plan hits close to home — literally. Under the proposal, Waring School would close, and Masterman would take over the Waring building, giving our famously overcrowded school some much-needed breathing room.

That's potentially great news for space — but it also opens up a lot of important conversations about what makes Masterman, well, Masterman. How do we maintain the community, culture, and climate we love when the school is operating across two locations? How will this impact clubs and our beloved music program? What impact will this have on our teachers? What questions and concerns do you have?

We'd love to have you join us at the next SAC Climate and Culture/Health and Wellness Committee meeting to talk through it together:

Monday, February 23rd from 7:00 – 8:00 PM

CLICK TO JOIN

No agenda, no pressure — just an open conversation with fellow Masterman families and staff. Your perspective matters, and this is a great time to make your voice heard as the district's plan continues to develop.
Hope to see you there!

Spring 2027 Panama Trip: Interest Meeting

2/9/2026

We are pleased to share we have an educational tour to Panama happening in Spring 2027 for high school students. Highlights include:
🏰 Tour the historic ruins of Panamá Viejo and the colorful streets of Casco Viejo
🎶 Enjoy a youth folklore dance show and participate in a cultural exchange with locals
🍍 Visit a pineapple farm and learn about Panama’s agricultural traditions

When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and I would love to have your student join us on one of these adventures.

Nationwide the majority of the students who participate in these experiences do fundraising and have been very successful.

Come hear all the details, including the itinerary, activities, academic opportunities, and the cost of the trip at our information night on February 26 at 6:00 PM.

Please click here to register for the meeting ASAP to save your seat. The meeting will take place via Zoom, so you MUST RSVP to receive the link! (No RSVP, no link).

There are limited spots on these trips, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
