Masterman's NHD Team Competes at NHD Philly

Congratulations to Masterman’s 2026 National History Day team! All of our students brought well researched and thoughtful projects. The following students won awards:

Individual Performance:
  • 1st Place: Halimah Fasasi: “All the Women Are White, All the Blacks Are Men, But Some of Us Are Brave”: How the Combahee River Collective Revolutionized Black Feminism

Group Performance:
  • 1st Place: Leila Golzari-Hunt, N’Yahme Joslyn, Olivia Kang, Eliana Kelberg-Gross, Sophia Plastaras: One Voice, One America: How Marian Anderson’s Lincoln Memorial Performance Set a Precedent for Reform

Individual Exhibit:
  • 1st Place: Grace O’Connell: “My Life Started There”: The Revolutionary Development of the Civilian Conservation Corps
  • 2nd Place: Mason Seder: “We Didn’t Have Nothing to Lose”: How the Sonderkommando Revolt Defined Resistance in Reaction to the Atrocities of the Holocaust
  • Honorable Mention: Charlotte O’Connell: Contradictory by Design: Robert Venturi and the Dawn of Post-Modern Architecture

Group Exhibit:
  • 2nd Place: Yuhan Wang and Sophia Zheng: The Wright Way to Fly: How the Wright Brothers Revolutionized Military Aviation

Women’s History Prize:
This prize was for only one project in the high school division. The winner of this monetary award was Halimah Fasasi for her individual performance on the Combahee River Collective.
