Quick Guide: How to Get Your Clearances to Volunteer
The school district has information about volunteer clearances here:
Volunteer Support – Family & Community Engagement (philasd.org)
Here are the steps they give for completing the district's Volunteer Packet:
1. Check with the school (you've already done that!) and review the Volunteer Checklist.
2. Clearances and Documentation: Follow their links to complete the Child Abuse History Clearance and the PA State Criminal History Check. If you have lived in PA for 10 years, sign the Volunteer Affirmation form. If not, do the FBI Criminal History Background Check with Fingerprinting. This is much easier than it sounds! There are retail fingerprinting locations around the city and it's quick and easy. Print both certificates and the form or FBI confirmation.
3. Volunteer Orientation: Watch a video or attend a webinar, and take a a quiz to confirm you paid attention. This quiz is very common sense, and you can resubmit answers you get incorrect. You will receive an emailed certificate of quiz completion and should print.
4. Review Volunteer Code of Conduct: Read, print, and sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct.
When you have finished, submit all these items together to the main office at Masterman!
Links to all these items are at the district website linked above.
