Three Ways to Volunteer at Masterman
|

Be a Chaperone Every grade requires a pool of parent/guardian volunteers with the required School District of Philadelphia clearances to ensure coverage for student events and trips. Please turn in your clearances to the main office in advance! They are valid for 5 years.

Come to Something Attending a General Body HSA meeting or another HSA event is a great way to connect with the community, learn about everything that's going on, and explore ways to help out.

Reach Out! There's something for everyone--from serving food for teachers to heading a committee to helping with communications from home.
Reach out to any board member or committee chair and let them know you're available! We'll be so glad to hear from you. |
Quick Guide: How to Get Your Clearances to Volunteer
The school district has information about volunteer clearances here:
Volunteer Support – Family & Community Engagement (philasd.org)
Here are the steps they give for completing the district's Volunteer Packet:
1. Check with the school (you've already done that!) and review the Volunteer Checklist.
2. Clearances and Documentation: Follow their links to complete the Child Abuse History Clearance and the PA State Criminal History Check. If you have lived in PA for 10 years, sign the Volunteer Affirmation form. If not, do the FBI Criminal History Background Check with Fingerprinting. This is much easier than it sounds! There are retail fingerprinting locations around the city and it's quick and easy. Print both certificates and the form or FBI confirmation.
3. Volunteer Orientation: Watch a video or attend a webinar, and take a a quiz to confirm you paid attention. This quiz is very common sense, and you can resubmit answers you get incorrect. You will receive an emailed certificate of quiz completion and should print.
4. Review Volunteer Code of Conduct: Read, print, and sign the Volunteer Code of Conduct.
When you have finished, submit all these items together to the main office at Masterman!
Links to all these items are at the district website linked above.
